Derek Schiissler is an associate with the Vancouver office of Dolden Wallace Folick and his practice encompasses a broad range of insurance related matters. Derek has appeared before the BC Provincial Court, the BC Supreme Court, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Alberta Provincial Court, and various administrative tribunals.
Derek was called to British Columbia Bar in 2017 and the Alberta Bar in 2016. He previously articled and worked as an associate at a large national firm in Calgary, before relocating to BC in 2017, where he joined a mid-sized full service firm in Kelowna, BC, focusing on commercial and civil litigation matters. Derek has gained litigation experience in a wide variety of areas, including construction deficiencies, strata disputes, occupier’s liability, fiduciary liability, shareholder oppression remedies, personal injury, employment litigation, and general commercial litigation.
Prior to practicing law, Derek obtained his Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of British Columbia and his Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. While attending law school, Derek spent a semester working for the Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City Inc., providing legal services and legal advice in the areas of civil litigation, criminal law, and commercial law to low-income individuals.
