Ryan Osbourne joined the firm’s Toronto office in 2019. He previously articled and practiced with a full service Bay Street firm, and was a registered insurance broker for several years before entering law.
Ryan specializes in complex, insurance related litigation. He has significant litigation experience, having independently conducted numerous trials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Small Claims Court. He regularly represents clients at mediations; case conferences; arbitrations; and administrative tribunals.
Ryan provides a practical and personable approach to handling matters for domestic and international clients.
Ryan’s practice areas include:
- Defence of claims against professionals including insurance brokers; home inspectors; property managers; life safety system, security, and alarm companies; mechanics; and medical and paramedical professionals
Construction, Property Damage, and General Liability
- Defence of a wide variety of claims including subrogation; fire loss; product liability; claims under the Condominium Act, 1998; claims against contractors, roofing companies, and HVAC companies; as well as claims for injunctive relief, complex tort claims, and environmental/regulatory matters
Complex Personal Injury
- Defence of various matters including liquor liability claims; sports and recreation including snowmobile, mountain bike, and amusement park claims; occupier’s liability matters; and automobile claims
- Provided coverage opinions and defence of first party claims for coverage in respect of both commercial and personal insurance policies
